2020 Red Rankings

As Expected: 7 of the top 10 cards are 2-CMC or less, and half of them do damage directly to the face. Bolt is the perfect magic card for cube.

Pleasant Surprises: Historically, "punisher" cards where opponents pick their poison have been poor. Risk Factor seems to have found a nice balance where the punishments are equally balanced and the psuedo-flashback puts it miles ahead of its earlier cousins.

Goblin Cratermaker is the little goblin who could. When you play cratermaker you often dont get to see the disruption it has in the game so it flies under the radar. I can't tell you the number of times my opponent drops this little guy and I can't run out my Karn, Ugin, or Emrakul. Card is good!

Disappointments: Seige-Gang Commander is starting to be outclassed. What was once the red equivalent of Deranged Hermit has been seeing less and less play with Pia and Kiran Nalaar taking over as the token producer with reach of choice.

Greater Gargadon has been too narrow and while it can be a combo piece with things like Balance, I've personally never seen it and it has done pretty much nothing in the cube.
