2021Â Overall Rankings: The Top

Pleasant Surprises: Compared to last year the balance of cards by colour is much tighter than last year. In last years' ranking Blue had nearly double the representation when compared to the other colours and now it is much tighter. The addition of ABUR Dual Lands has drastically increased the amount of lands in the top compared to when I had just Shocks and Man-Lands. Better lands = better magic so I am pleased with that result being noticeable in the stats.

Disappointments: I would like there to be some more gold cards in the top but thats a pretty tall order. Some more hybrid mana costs is something on the wish list that might help that case in the future.
2021Â Overall Rankings: The Middle
The Breakdown:
White: 12.5% Gold: 6.7%
Blue: 12.5% Colourless: 9.2%
Black: 14.2% Land: 9.2%
Red: 18.3%

Pleasant Surprises: Again the colour balance in this section is much better which is great to see. Really pleased to see a few cards with some big jumps up the list, most notably Young Pyromancer and Knight of the Ebon Legion. You also have to consider that with ~40 new cards that have jumped into the top section it is even more impressive that they have gone up so much.

Disappointments: Something I noticed is that Clone effects have fallen out of favour. Phyrexian Metamorph and Phantasmal Image both dropped over 100 ranks and I'm not sure if this is partly due to the introduction of Glasspool Mimic which is just so easy to maindeck or if there is another reason. A couple other blue cards are having a tough go including Mulldrifter which has become a lot less popular in the cube community as well as Dig Through Time. I have actually cut Treasure Cruise to try and prop DTT up a little bit giving it less competition for Delve.
2021 Overall Rankings: The Bottom
The Breakdown:
White: 16.7% Gold: 14.2%

Pleasant Surprises: Black has managed to recover nicely predominantly because of the success of Reanimator which last year was almost solely responsible for pulling a large section of Black cards into the bottom third. Lands are precious spots in cube and I am happy to see that only 6 lands show up in the bottom third.

Disappointments: There are still 6 lands in the bottom third. Tolarian Academy is the lowest rated land in my cube and while unpowered has a lot less artifacts I still don't see how such a strong land is this low in the rankings. I have cut some artifacts matter cards from my list which may not have helped its case but regardless, I'll have to see if there are some changes that need to be made here for these 6 lands.
